Our History & Milestones

Our Company

Our History

Our Company was incorporated as a private limited company in Malaysia on 7 August 1979 and had its beginnings in the cocoa business. As our business grew, the Company subsequently obtained a listing on the Second Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on 31 January 1994, before transferring to the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now known as the Main Market of Bursa Securities) on 12 June 2000. Our Group has since then diversified its business and is now principally engaged in oil palm cultivation, palm oil milling and refinery.

The diversification into the oil palm industry started in the 1990s when our Group ventured into oil palm cultivation and milling in Sabah. This was followed by expansion of the business into Indonesia in the 2000s, particularly Kalimantan and Sumatera in partnership with business entrepreneur, Garibaldi Thohir who is the CEO and a significant shareholder of Adaro Group of Companies, and now has 36,000 Ha of oil palm and four palm oil mills. In 2006, our Group ventured further downstream into palm oil refining and fractionation and PK crushing in Sabah through a joint venture with the Wilmar Group.

In the early 2000s, our Group diversified into the renewable segment by setting up biomass and biogas power plants in Sabah, turning wastes from the palm oil value chain to renewable energy.
